On Saturday 27th January, we held a Hot Pot Supper in the Old School to raise funds for the Boiler Appeal.  About 60 people came along to enjoy a very tasty, warming and nutritious meal of Beef or Vegetarian Hot Pot followed by Chocolate Tart or Lemon Meringue Pie.  After the meal we were treated a programme of entertainment starting with Jessica Pannett and Angeline Thomas treating us to amusing renditions of ‘ These are my favourite things’ from My Fair Lady and ‘Are you lonesome tonight’ by Elvis Presley but with alternative words for the age challenged.

This was followed by a Two Ronnies type news item read by John Points and Roy Turner and then on to the main item for the evening a ‘Mr & Mrs’ Quiz.  Thanks to John and Susan Points, Tony and Beryl Jacques, Ian and Ann; and Richard and Frances Birkett for taking part, with Richard and Frances emerging as winners in a close fought contest.  The evening concluded with the long-awaited announcement of the winners and answers of the Seasonal Music Quiz; the answers and more details can be found at the Boiler Appeal Christmas Quiz ANSWERS and Result sheet.  There was also the auction of an original painting of Guilsfield Church.  This proved to be most enjoyable evening, which raised £529 from the sale of tickets, raffle and picture auction and when added to the £386 raised by the Quiz resulted in a profit of £915 for the Appeal.  A very well done to everyone who contributed and thank you to those attending.
