We seem to have quite a lot happening over the next few weeks, so keep this newsletter fixed to your fridge, or copy it all into your diary or calendar.
We’re hoping that the first fete in the village for a number of years is going to be great fun and get the wider community together. (Any funds raised will be a bonus!) We’ve got lots of ideas for silly games from a human fruit machine to bottle hoop-la. The biggest fund raisers are always cake and produce (home made jams, chutneys & sweets) stalls and refreshments, so please bring any donations to church (or for perishable items to the Community centre on the day). We will also need plenty of helpers on the day.
At the end of the month we will. be celebrating harvest. This year I’m going to encourage school to collect canned and dried goods to give to the Welshpool foodbank, so that people who are actually hungry benefit from their generosity. If you would like to join in the goods the food bank are currently in urgent need of are Tinned Fruit, Rice, Dried Pasta, Uht Milk (1 Litre), Tinned Meats/Meals, Coffee, Peanut Butter, Soups. Please bring them to the Harvest Sung Eucharist on 1st October.
A prayer as we reflect on all that is good in our lives in this village:
Creator God, you made the goodness of the land, the riches of the sea and the rhythm of the seasons; as we thank you for the harvest, may we cherish and respect this planet and its peoples, through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
