Autumn seems to be the season of remembering – All Saints and All Souls days in the church calendar when we remember those whose lives have inspired our Christian journey, and then those we have loved who have died, precede the national remembrance of all those who have died in war. This year of course our thoughts will turn especially to those who fought in the first world war, as we commemorate the centenary of the guns falling silent at 11 am on the eleventh day of the eleventh month 1918, hoping that it would be the war to end all wars.
We will be remembering not just those who died but all who served, many of whom returned with life altering physical and mental scars.
On Friday 9th we have a special event to commemorate the occasion with music readings and images – do come along – what I’ve seen and heard so far is very moving. Thanks in advance to all who have been busy rehearsing, and to the WI who have been busy knitting and crocheting poppies to display for the occasion.
With every blessing,
